SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic welcomes new internal medicine provider

The SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic, 420 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, welcomes Morgan Orsburne, APNP-CNP, an internal medicine nurse practitioner. She is now accepting patients.

As a nurse practitioner, Orsburne offers a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services. She diagnoses and treats a variety of health conditions, prescribes medications, and provides patient education. She has a special interest in cardiology and palliative care/end-of-life medicine.

Orsburne earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, and her master’s degree from Chamberlain University. Orsburne is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Choosing internal medicine as a specialty was an easy choice for Orsburne.

“I knew in my heart I was born to take care of older adults,” according to Orsburne. “Going through my clinicals within internal medicine also just sealed the deal. Listening to patient stories and watching them and their families smile when help is given is very fulfilling.

“I was put here to help a vulnerable population feel less susceptible by delivering excellent care specific to their needs,” Orsburne adds. “People may have special requirements as they age because they are more likely to experience chronic health issues, impairments, and other functional and physical demands. They may also have limited resources. I want to be at the forefront, giving each patient access to great and well-deserved health care.”

Orsburne’s focus with patients is around open communication with empathetic care.

“Communication, focused active listening, avoiding interruptions, and asking open-ended questions to obtain the patient’s goals are essential to patient-centered care,” she explains. “Key components of patient-centered communication include showing empathy and understanding the patient’s perspective on their medical condition and assessing the patient’s thoughts, feelings, worries, and experiences about the effects of the illness as well as their expectations of me as their provider is necessary to comprehend their point of view. Identifying the emotion, expressing respect, understanding, and support, and evaluating the patient’s feelings and experience of disease are all ways to demonstrate empathy, leading to patient-centered health care.”

Outside of her clinical practice, Orsburne enjoys being outside, volunteering, or participating in events for service and helping others, such as 5ks and 10ks. “While I would never turn down a beach vacation, I enjoy going places with great views and hiking with my family. A lot of my spare time revolves around my family. My most immense joy would be sharing experiences with my two-year-old daughter. Currently, you can call me a gymnastics mom, and I love it!”
