Sabre women’s hockey finishes regular season with Concordia Wisconsin

Marian University women’s ice hockey (7-15-3, 5-10-3 NCHA) was defeated 3-1 by Concordia Wisconsin in the final game of the regular season.

  • The Sabres were able to get on the board first scoring with 10:49 left in the opening period with a goal from senior Madeline Chimenti.
  • The 1-0 lead held for Marian going into the second stanza.
  • The Falcons were able to find an equalizer 6:34 into the second period to put the game at 1-1 going into the third period.
  • Concordia Wisconsin was able to extend its lead with 7:32 left in the third period and ultimately ice the game with a score 3:14 later.

  • Marian was outshot 47-17 for the game but finished with an 8-7 edge in the first period.
  • The Sabres had just 19 face-off wins to 36 for the Falcons.
  • Neither team scored on the power play with CUW having seven chances and Marian four.
  • Marian is now just 5-32-6 all-time against Concordia Wisconsin.

Freshman Sydney Magnuson (6-11-3) made 44 saves with a .936 save percentage.
Sophomore Olivia Church-Swinski had two shots and went 6-for-8 on face-offs.
