Sabre softball hangs tough with No. 11 UW-Oshkosh

Marian University softball (7-11, 2-2 NACC) was defeated by No. 11 UW-Oshkosh 4-1 and 8-0 in five innings.

GAME 1

  • The Titans were able to build an early lead with a run in the second and two runs in the third.
  • Marian was able to make the most of its first hit of the game in the top of the fourth when sophomore Erin Cowe started the frame with a single.
  • After a sacrifice bunt moved her to second, Cowe stole third and an errant throw allowed her to score.
  • The Titans extended their lead back to three in the next half inning and the 4-1 tally stood the rest of the way.

GAME 2

  • The second game opened with two scoreless frames before the Titans scored three runs in the third and broke the game open with four runs in the fourth.
  • UWO was able to end the game early scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth.
  • Marian is 5-38 all-time against UW-Oshkosh and have dropped the last six games.

Sophomore Sabrina Di Vito (4-4) threw a complete game in game one striking out five hitters.
Sophomore Erin Cowe scored the only run of the day for Marian and reached base safely twice in game one.
Junior Riley Mankowski was the lone Sabre to reach base safely in both games.
