The Fond du Lac School District (FDL-SD) announces Alexandra Garcia-Bankowski has been approved to serve as the Principal at Sabish Middle School, effective July 1, 2023.
Ms. Garcia-Bankowksi is a familiar face for those in the FDL-SD as she has served as an assistant principal at Fond du Lac High School since the fall of 2021.
She is excited to take on the new responsibility. “Continuing to serve the students and families of Fond du Lac in a new role as Principal at Sabish Middle School is an opportunity I am so deeply passionate about,” said Garcia-Bankowski. “I believe in each and every student’s endless capacity for learning and the need for each of our students to achieve their academic goals. Through high expectations and relationships rooted in trust and dignity, Sabish Middle School will thrive and never stop in our pursuit of academic excellence for each and every student.”
Ms. Garcia-Bankowksi has a Master’s in Secondary Social Studies from DePaul University and a Master’s in Educational Policy and Leadership from Marquette University. She received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Garcia-Bankowski began her educational career in 2014 at West Allis Central High School as a Social Studies and AVID teacher. In 2019, she became South Milwaukee High School’s Dean of Students and moved into the Associate Principal role for the 2019-20 school year.
“Ms. Garcia-Bankowski has done an exceptional job the past two years serving as assistant principal at the high school,” said Dr. Jeffrey Fleig, FDL-SD Superintendent. “Her focus on student achievement and working collaboratively with staff will serve Sabish Middle School well.”
“Ms. Garcia-Bankowski has demonstrated her ability to be a strong and capable academic leader,” said FDL-SD Human Resource Director Marisa Lombardo. “Her belief in the power of education drives her decision-making; her primary motivation is the success of students.”
