Marian women’s bowling advances to bracket play at NCAA Tournament

Marian University women’s bowling won its first NCAA Tournament match in program history sweeping Saint Vincent College at the Rochester Regional.

  • A consistent lineup helped lead Marian to a 901-840 victory in the traditional portion of the mega-match.
  • Junior Kyley Olson had a five-bagger during her game to post a team-high 208, while senior Brenna Schiekiera rolled a 208.
  • The Sabres opened Baker total pinfall with a 172-147 advantage before a dominating second game.
  • Marian was able to build a 67-pin advantage after bowling a 256 in the second game.
  • The Sabres didn’t have any opens and rolled nine strikes.
  • The Bearcats began to rally in a third game that saw SVC outscore Marian 212-171.
  • Saint Vincent was able to trim its deficit down to as little as 11 pins after the fourth game.
  • Marian was able to withhold the momentum, however, with a 208 game where Marian had just one open and five strikes.
  • The end total was a 965-922 victory for Marian to clinch the sweep.
  • The victory is the first in program history at the NCAA Tournament and earns the Sabres a spot in bracket play.
