Empty Bowls 2023 raises more than $8,400 for area food pantries

Community bands together to raise funds to support local pantries

Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Leadership Alumni hosted Empty Bowls on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Thanks to attendees, donors, and sponsors, the 2023 event raised more than $8,400. The event was sponsored through the generous support of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff Benevolent Association, SSM Health, FDL Noon Kiwanis, Spectrum, Society Insurance, Bank First, Noon Rotary, and Crailoo Dairy.

Empty Bowls, established in 1999, is a community-driven effort to fight hunger. The three-fold purpose of this event is to promote an awareness of hunger in our community and world; create an awareness of art education and its impact on civil and social responsibility; and provide an opportunity for the community to come together to raise money for local food pantries and shelters. Proceeds from this event benefit area food pantries.

“Empty Bowls 2023 was another great event,” Tracy Qualmann, Leadership alumni ‘03, 2023 Empty Bowls Planning Committee, said. “Empty bowls continues to resonate with our community as a fundraiser to provide essential tools to our food pantries so they can assist those in need. The next Empty Bowls event will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, for those who are interested in joining.”

Through the funds raised during the 2023 event, minus expenses, six area food pantries  received a check for $947.99. The following food pantries were assisted: Broken Bread, Fondy Food Pantry, Loaves & Fishes, Salvation Army, Holyland Food Pantry, and St.Vincent DePaul.
