Employers Sought for Upcoming Fond du Lac Job Fair

July 31 Event at Moraine Park Technical College to Assist Laid Off Workers from Charter and Mercury Marine

The Fox Valley Workforce Development Board (FVWBD), a regional 501(c)3 not-for-profit directing local leadership for state and federal workforce investment programs, will be hosting a free job fair for all employees dislocated from Mercury Marine and Charter Communications. The event will be 10 am – 1 pm, Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Moraine Park Technical College Conference Center, 235 N. National Avenue, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Employers hoping to meet these highly skilled workers are invited to register for a free exhibit table at www.foxvalleywork.org/jobfair.html.

Employees who are being impacted by the layoffs at Charter Communications, Mercury Marine, Big Lots or any Fond du Lac regional employer, are encouraged to register with the local workforce board at www.foxvalleyjobcenters.com or call 920-968-0991. Workforce development staff will work with the individuals being impacted to refresh resumes, do mock interviews and prepare them for the job fair and a future job search.

FVWDB CEO Anthony Snyder said, “Losing a job can be a traumatic, life altering experience for anyone, but your workforce board and staff at the local job center are ready to assist you with this transition. Thankfully, a robust labor market means any worker laid off today will have lots of opportunities for future employment. We always encourage a dislocated worker – that’s what we call someone laid off – to take some time to look into retraining. With us paying the tuition and fees and covering other expenses, such as rent, mileage to a from the classroom and child care, a recently dislocated worker may never have a better opportunity for upskilling. These new skills will make an individual more marketable and, in most cases, lead to higher wages at the next job.”
