Behind the wheel experience to spark interest in EVs
The number of electric vehicles on our streets will only increase as federal guidelines will require at least 54% of new vehicles sold in the United States to be electric by 2030. While electric vehicles have grown in popularity, many people are still unfamiliar with them and how they work.
A June 13 event at Shea Electric & Communications, LLC, 3175 Atlas Ave., looks to dispel some of that uncertainty by getting people behind the wheel of an electric car and teaching them about the expanding EV ecosystem.
Representatives from Homan Auto Group will review how electric vehicles work while Shea Electric will discuss the necessary infrastructure needed for EVs, including charging stations. A Horicon Bank representative will briefly discuss current vehicle loan rates and what the next 12 to 18 months could look like.
In addition to Homan and Shea Electric, Horicon Bank and Amplify, a program of the Oshkosh Chamber, are sponsoring the event. Refreshments will also be available.
“With automakers manufacturing more electric vehicles, now is the time for drivers to learn more about them and how an EV can fit into their driving style,” Shea Electric, Inc. Chief Operating Officer Dan Shea. “As more EVs hit the road, additional charging stations will be needed. We are here to work with municipalities, businesses and organizations to add more stations, which will bring added conveniences to drivers.”
