Defensive battle goes against Sabre men’s lacrosse

Marian University men’s lacrosse (2-6, 1-4 NACC) scored first but trailed most of the game in an 8-5 loss to Beloit.

  • Sophomore Jayden Gerhardt scored the opening goal of the game but Beloit was able to take a 2-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of action.
  • A score from senior Serge Simard tied the game 30 seconds into the second quarter.
  • The Buccaneers had a response netting the final three goals of the half to lead 5-2 at halftime.
  • Marian was able to cut into its deficit in the third quarter with scores from senior Trevor Stachowski and freshman Jack Moody, but the Sabres still trailed 6-4.
  • Despite having the momentum, Beloit was able to pull away with the first two goals of the final quarter to lead 8-4.
  • A late goal from sophomore Alton Reynolds put the final score at 8-5.
