Leadership Fond du Lac County, a program of Envision Greater Fond du Lac, named Dan Hebel (’13) as the 2024 recipient of the Donald G. Jones Leadership Alumni Award. Hebel will be presented with the award during the Leadership Fond du Lac County Completion Ceremony on Wednesday, May 15 at Whispering Springs Golf Club.
The Donald G. Jones Leadership Alumni Award was created in 2001 and honors the former area businessman who played a major role in founding and supporting the Leadership Fond du Lac program. This award, made possible by National Exchange Bank & Trust, recognizes a past graduate of the Leadership Fond du Lac County program for the effort they have put forth in helping improve their community through volunteer service and utilization of their leadership abilities.
Dan Hebel was born and raised in Fond du Lac, where he returned upon completion of his bachelor’s degree at UW-La Crosse in 2004. Currently, Hebel is the CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac, and lives in the area with his wife Holly and two children, Jake and Quinn.
Hebel was originally hired with the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac in 2005 as the Director of Teen Services. Over the past 19 years, Hebel has held several roles and titles with the organization, ultimately being named CEO in 2013.
In his time as CEO, Hebel implemented mental health and workforce development programs to support community needs and created an afterschool program model to better serve Fond du Lac area youth. Over the past decade, the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac has increased youth membership by 50% and more than doubled the size of its operating budget. Hebel has also worked to cultivate successful community partnerships with the Fond du Lac School District and the Fond du Lac Family YMCA. He is also involved with Boys & Girls Clubs at the state and national level.
Additionally, Hebel has volunteered as a board member for several organizations, including St. Mary’s Springs Academy and Fond du Lac Festivals. He has also served on the Police and Fire Commission and Board of Appeals for the City of Fond du Lac.
Hebel was nominated for the Donald G. Jones Leadership Alumni award by Chief Aaron Goldstein of the City of Fond du Lac Police Department. “Dan embraces what Fond du Lac has to offer and is invested in continuing to make it a community that others want to live in,” Chief Goldstein shared. “He strives to be a part of community connections and partnerships that are working towards a better future and Fond du Lac is a better place because of Dan Hebel.”
