The Earth Day Fair returns to Founders Hall at the motherhouse of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes (CSA) at 320 County Rd K in Fond du Lac. On April 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the public is invited to interact with Earth-focused exhibitors and participate in tours, presentations, a raffle, and other activities. New this year, several 45-minute presentations will be available throughout the day, each beginning at quarter past the hour. Presentations will explore water treatment technologies, the Winnebago Wild Rice Revitalization Project, using eBird, the value of native plants, and the Niagara Escarpment.
Exhibitors will be on-site from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. showcasing opportunities to care for our common home in many different ways. Exhibitors include Advocap, Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes, Earth Justice Now (a committee of Open Circle UU), Fond du Lac County Audubon Society, Fond du Lac Bird City, Fond du Lac Public Library, Fond du Lac Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery Facility, Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, Friends of Gottfried Prairie & Arboretum, Glacial Lakes Conservancy, Greenway Arboretum, Just Fare Market, Niagara Escarpment Resource Network, Sustain Fond du Lac, The Fond du Lac Loop, Wild Ones Fox Valley Chapter, Winnebago Wild Rice Revitalization Project, Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation.
Various guided tours will be offered over the course of the day, including solar array tours, a bird walk, and a two-hour in-depth tour of the land including the escarpment. Space is limited, so online pre-registration for the tours is encouraged, but not. Visitors are also welcome to explore the property on their own throughout the fair hours after checking in to receive a visitor’s badge.
The Big Blue Yummy will be on site with a great variety of food options from grilled cheese to poké!
A raffle will feature more than 15 prize options including sustainable household products, birdhouses, reflection books, a fairy house, a native plant starter pack, and more.
Just prior to the fair, CSA Associates invite the public to join them at their adopt-a-highway location from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on the morning of the Earth Day Fair. The group will gather at the Park and Ride lot on the corner of Winnebago Drive and Hwy 151 and work 45-60 minutes along the trail. RSVP is required to ensure volunteers have watched the required safety video. See website for details.
This year’s fair also coincides with the Fond du Lac County Clean Sweep event which will run from 9-noon at the County Highway Shop on 1820 South Hickory St.
